WILL SMITH EXPLAINS WHY HE TURNED DOWN 'THE MATRIX': In a new video updated to his YouTube account, Will Smith explained why he turned down the role of "Neo" in The Matrix. Smith explained that when he was approached by the Wachowskis he didn't understand the pitch. He also revealed that after starring in blockbuster hit films like Independence Day and Men In Black, he didn't want to be known as "the alien movie guy." Despite regretting not taking the role, Will said that Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne were perfect for the film. He explained, "If I had done it because I'm black, then Morpheus wouldn't have been black cause they were looking at Val Kilmer. So, I probably would have messed The Matrix up, I did y'all a favor."
'BREAKING BAD' MOVIE WILL AIR ON NETFLIX AND AMC: According to Deadline, Breaking Bad, the movie is set to air on Neflix and AMC. The “Breaking Bad” series aired originally on AMC with seasons subsequently made available on Netflix for streaming. The film is being written and directed by “Breaking Bad” creator/executive producer Gilligan, who also co-created and executive produces AMC prequel series Better Call Saul. He is joined by producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein who have worked with Gilligan both on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
CHADWICK BOSEMAN TO STAR IN SPIKE LEE'S MOVIE 'DA 5 BLOODS': Chadwick Boseman has teamed up with Spike Lee for a new film called "Da 5 Bloods." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is going to center on a group of Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle “to find their lost innocence” and “to put their broken selves back together.” Da 5 Bloods is based on an original screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo and Lee will produce the project alongside Jon Kilik along with Beatriz and Lloyd Levin. As of now, Netflix is in talks to distribute Da 5 Bloods — which would mark the first time Spike Lee film for the streaming service.
MTV UK IS REVIVING 'CRIBS': MTV UK is reviving MTV Cribs for eight episodes. MTV UK VP Kelly Bradshaw said in a statement, "With its firmly cemented status as a cult hit program, Cribs remains one of the most-loved shows in MTV history. The new series is set to be warm and funny, giving MTV audiences a sneak peak [sic] into how their favorite stars live." Production will begin this spring ahead of an expected late 2019 premiere date.
'QUEER EYE' ANNOUNCES SEASON 3: Queer Eye has dropped a teaser for it's upcoming third season. The teaser features a snippet of a new song from Carly Rae Jepsen. Season 3 is set to premiere on March 15th.
